the runners, pre-race.
we will not dwell on the fact that the big toe on my foot covering caught an uneven piece of pavement and caused me to completely wipe out about a mile in... a complete roll that left me lying in the road with runners all around me. no, we won't dwell on that... instead the fact that I finished and that it was oh so pretty to run through all that green!
these two killed it. they ran the half-marathon distance at an average pace of 7 min. and 27 seconds a mile. d's comment is that it's amazing what his body can do when we remove the heat factor. seriously.
our digs. The Bass Cottage Inn. quaint and charming are the appropriate terms.
as we drove from bangor to bar harbor beneath the changing leaves, we looked at each other and wondered why on earth we lived in the desert. between all the untouched land, the green, the trees, the water, the autumn season... why doesn't the whole world live on the east coast? it gets bloody cold, but even I might be able to deal with that considering how absolutely gorgeous it is.
stop one: success. and beautiful.

Every single thing about those pictures looks fabulous. And seriously, if it makes you feel any better I biffed it on my first race while jumping a hurdle. Missed the top by about an inch, fell over it and directly into a pile of mud (it was a mud run) while yes, everyone else just leaped over me and I wiped my face from the repeated splashes of mud. Glorious!
Stop one? Tell me you're not running several more races in the next bit. You guys absolutely astound me! Even ONE marathon is so beyone me! The East coast is beautiful isn't it. Every time we visit Glenn's family in NH I wonder if we should try to move back there somehow...
really? that's the photo you got? and you chose to put it in? i will forgive you because i the other photo's make me feel tranquil. let us return.
Way to go, and I am so terribly sorry about the biff. Was it better or worse that going over the handlebars of your bike on Brundage? Just teasin!
How cool, you guys! I love that you're running in the funky shoes. I have not seen those around here at all--not in the running shops or on feet. You're a trend-setter!
