I had a terrific weekend, and I am currently quite grateful to my mother for blessing me with siblings. I had my sister Lindsay here this weekend and was reminded that while quite different, my sisters will always be my dearest friends.
Lindsay arrived Friday and one of the purposes of her trip was to help Cooper be a little more comfortable in the water. He's not scared of it as long as it's on his own terms. He'll play in the pool for hours, but the key word there is play, not swim. I need him to know the basics living here and being around water so much; there are too many drownings reported here each summer for me to ignore. Lindsay has taught swimming at home for the past few summers, so I thought she'd have the magic touch. I did not take photos of the first day, which was, in a word, ugly. And loud. You'd think he was dying, the poor screaming kid. I'm glad Linny pushed it a bit, but the swimming sessions after the first were focused more on having fun and that was a good idea. Here is how the weekend in the pool ended:
While we did spend a fair amount of time lounging by the pool reading gossip mags, we also indulged in two-for-one massages at the local school of massage therapy. I totally needed it and it was totally worth the wait! We also pampered our feet... Lindsay with a lovely french variety and I with a bright summer tangerine- not to mention true Phoenix Suns spirit on each little toe!
As for the Suns, wow! what a game last night! I was happy to cheer for the Jazz and Linny for the Suns... heaven help us if they end up playing each other next week! After watching the collision incident and the incredible comeback- well, there is nothing like Suns basketball my friends!
We also threw in a little shopping to make the visit complete- Cooper was a good sport and fairly pleasant singing at the top of his lungs in the IKEA marketplace and counting each step we took down Mill Ave in Tempe.
So on this Mother's Day Weekend recap, I definately had a great mini-vacation and got lots of love from my boys and now it's back to the real world of laundry, bathrooms and work... And to my own mom: I love you like crazy and am extremely proud to be your daughter and friend.

What a great mother's day! I just got back from a week with my sister. Love the nail polish! What a treat to have your sister be so great in the water. I'm sure you're feeling more comfortable now. Thanks for sharing!
Such fun!! The tangerine looks good on you! I am in withdrawl as our pool is gone:(
Can you make it still on Sat?-ciao
I am lovin' your orange spirit. No purple stripes to go with them? j/k. I was actually rooting for the Spurs since we live hear, but my husband is true orange to his team. He was beyond excited over the game last night!
My Luke is the same way around water. I am sure he will grow out of it soon. My soon to be 10 year old loves the water and would scream when she was 2-3 about ANY pool!
oooooh, a little jealous of your weekend! It sounded fantastic! How nice of your sister to help your little man with swimming! I understand the desire for him to learn to "swim", not just play...it is important! Happy Mother's Day. I love the polish! :)
This mostly just makes me mad. Sister's weekend without one of the sisters. Uggh. Plus, it's been so long Cooper has probably forgotten me. Uggh again.
I see he made it off the steps onto the kickboard...nice.
it sounds like you had a wonderful weekend. I like your choice of toe color!
Oh, the first day of forced swimming is definitely not fun. But something I suppose we need to face anyhow.
Tangerine does look good on you & it definitely tells me you have an adventurous side.
Are you planning to come to Janae's on Saturday? I'm excited to meet you! If not, we'll have to plan a get together soon.
Your mother's day weekend sound fantastic. Aren't sisters great?
How lucky to spend the weekend with your sister. Your look terrific.
Sisters are awesome, it's true.
I think it's a great thing you're starting Cooper on swimming young. He'll appreciate it some day and probably won't even remember that first day of kicking and screaming!
What a weekend! I am impressed, as always, with how you manage to do it all! You deserve the best.
I linked to your blog thru Amy's. We missed you at today's blogging get together! We will be planning another one in June. Hopefully we will see you then. Have a great weekend!
Sisters are the best. I have 3 and couldn't imagine life without them.
Missing yoooouuuuu!
