What a Gentleman!

The scene: Friday evening, Macaroni Grill. We've already wandered through Best Buy trying to kill time as we had a 35 minute wait. With 15 minutes left, we camped just outside the front door waiting for our buzzer to buzz. Cooper started playing with the doors and then began opening them for anyone coming or going. Seeing as it was Friday evening at prime dining time, he was standing with the door open for a fair amount of time.

It was interesting to watch the variety of reactions from the passers-by. He had a few say, "thank you," a few "oh, isn't he cute!" and some who walked right in oblivious to the fact that is was a two-year old holding the door for them. The best comment, however, was, "what a gentleman!" Isn't that what every mom wants their little boy to be? We want them to be tough and stand up for themselves, we want them to be intelligent and take an interest in the world around them, but we want them to be gentlemen, to know how to treat their fellow men (and mothers) with respect. A much older gentleman recognized the admirable quality in my little boy and made his evening by pulling out a dollar. What a sweet gesture!

Cooper's tip

The reason for the above celebration is that Denten's dad graduated Saturday from Grand Canyon University with a Master of Art in Teaching degree. He and Dianna came down for the weekend and logged some great grandparent time. Whenever they visit, we always eat too much, stay up too late and are so sorry to see them go. Cooper just woke up from his nap looking for Grandma. It's so sad to tell him she had to go back to Utah! Here are a couple of Cooper's good examples of quality gentlemen.

Congratulations Grandpa!

And, lest we forget dear gentleman Steve and the sacrifice of blood he made on this fine day, here is a photographic reminder. Too bad the mess that was his nose can't quite be justified as the Suns are down 1-0 to the Spurs. They'll be back Tuesday, with stitches and a new resolve to put Tim Duncan under!

Amberly,

Congratulations to your father-in-law! Matt graduated from GCU also that same day with his BS. degree. I will be graduating with my education degree in two years from there. We were there for the big event too, along with his parents from Utah. We pretty much just eat to celebrate as well :)

Cooper is the best. You can tell he is confident and that he knows he is loved. What a great way to instill gentlemen qualities.

As for your father-in-law, there is nothing like finishing that degree at any age.

Go Suns.

I love that someone tipped your little gentleman. He was probably grinning from ear to ear.

Congrats to your father-in-law. Beautiful.

And, oh yes, Go SUNS! That was a difficult ending to watch.

Could the timing with Nash's nose have been any worse? I was glad to see him come in just to hit a 3...what a stud. Game 2 on Tuesday...do you realize this conflicts with Girls Night? I am in vote of a change of location & activity. How about my house for the Suns game and treats? :)

I have seen little Cooper in action and he is a gentleman. What a doll. (or as Tate often reminds me, "No mom, I am a big, strong, boy." -- sometimes he even throws in humongous.) So what a big, strong, boy you have!

Congrats to the FIL. What an accomplishment.

Was that last picture really necessary? (j/k) Yuck!

What a sweet boy, and props to the man who gave him a dollar and rewarded his excellent manners! Talk about POSITIVE reinforcement!

Congrats to grandpa and hooray for Macaroni Grill! Brian and I LOVE that place!
