The Irony...

Isn't a bit ironic that during the late high school/ early college years one can function on very little sleep, and often did even though nothing extremely pressing was keeping he or she up at night, yet now, when one is older and there are children to attend to during the night, one somehow needs all of those hours at night in order to avoid feeling like a zombie the next day? Couldn't we request a change and somehow train our bodies to only require, say, four hours in order to be a lovely present, pleasant mother? Yeah, I'll get used to it, I have twice before, but we could also call it ironic that I was up more last night with Cooper than with Beckham... this kid has notoriously fantastic reasons for getting out of his bed... even at 4 a.m.! and 4: 30, and 5:00... Once again, bless my mother for the opportunity to take a nap. Heaven help me when she leaves!

That was too funny. Jackson has been gifted with similar problems at night. HELP US! One of my friends told me that when she was trying to get her boy to sleep in the big boy bed and he wouldn't, they would hold the door shut and he would beg to come out. He bribed his dad with a "present" and his mom with "french fries" Is that not hilarious!! :) And I totally wish I could go to bed at 8pm every night. :)

that reminds me of my two-year-old nephew, who went through a phase last month where he would wake up at all hours of the night screaming for the most random things: "MOOOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!!! IIIII WAAAAAANT A SAAAAAAAAAANDWICH!!!"

Ah, I am so sorry!! The non-existence of sleep was the hardest thing for me by far!!!!! Hang in there. And, I know I don't know you very well, but please, of I can help out in any way. Even take the older kiddos so you can have some quiet time with baby, I can!! Dylan always needs a playmate!

I am also amazed at how we can function as mothers on such little sleep...Wesley seems to be getting up nonstop these days! I rush into his bedroom to avoid him waking up his brother, and 1/2 of the night I seem to never leave his side....(sigh)

Keep hanging in there....our mothers did it and we can now appreciate them!
