Gastroesophageal reflux. Yeah, it's not fun. Little Beckham has been dealing with some internal issue for a while and we finally narrowed it down. A change of formula did not do the trick, but after a blessing, lots of prayers and a very smooth visit to the pediatrician, we have a diagnosis. and medication. the dr. discussed "next steps," but I'm confident that what she perscribed will do the trick. We're anxiously awaiting the return of our happy little guy. He's so dang sweet...
And now for the second one, who is really the first one... He hasn't even been home a week and my patience left a few days ago. I've gotten very caught up in noticing the negative, the naughty, the things he's doing wrong, the annoying... and besides driving me crazy, it's taking it's toll on our relationship. Thus, I've stepped back and taken a few notes about the things I am grateful for regarding Cooper.
I'm grateful
- that deep down I know I am supposed to be his mother, that he chose to come to this family and that both of us are right where we should be.
- Cooper has a desire to be independent
- he is a good eater
- he is a sound sleeper
- that he is developing a wonderful imagination
- he is capable of playing happily by himself
- for his strong, athletic body
- he knows he has angels protecting him and our family
- he is aware of, loves and watches out for his siblings
- he loves to read
- he enjoys singing and dancing
- he is not mute
- he exudes positive energy in our home
- for his big blue eyes
- for his sense of humor
- for his smart little brain
- that he enjoys making his sister laugh

I hope Beckham feels better soon, and hopefully we will see you all soon.
Hooray for healthy children! Reflux stinks, and I am glad that you've found a solution. I'm sure when the infant crying subsides, your sleep will increase, and so will your patience.
Good job Mom!!!
Bexie can borrow my board if he wants :) That's the pits, at least that's what everyone tells me, that I was the total pits for about 3 years, just think, it will help him grow to have a high pain tolerance :) Hopefully this stuff the dr. prescribed will do the trick.
When Coop is driving you beserk, make a game out of it, like have a contest to see who can sing, "I love you soooo much" the loudest! Pretty soon you'll be laughing your head off!
Just think...tonight...kids in bed (well maybe not Beckham)...bowl of ice cream...and Suns vs. Lakers in hi-def.
Ahh...pure bliss.
Good idea to think of the positive. There are so many days that I am counting down the minutes for Jason to come home. But I really do love the ages they are in. Too many funny things come out of their mouths not to love it.
Finn also was a spitter, turns out, he's allergic something in my milk. As for the first, it seems like it must be an older brother thing, Jonas is much the same. My theroy, the lunar eclise tonight. its throwing everything out of whack!
Wow, I can totally sympathize with the reflux issue. As you know, Londyn also has it but she is doing SO much better now that she's taking Prevacid once a day. Honestly, it's like a whole new baby! She's happy and content now, instead of constantly crying and screaming, and NOT sleeping.
I'm glad you went to the doc instead of waiting it out. A crying baby can really wear on you and it's so hard to function like that! I hope Beckham improves like Londyn did. Some babies dont' respond to the medication and just have to outgrow it. (Can you imagine?!)
poor beckster! I'm sorry. i hope that medicine works!!! you can send cooper up whenever you want!!!
Oh my heart goes out to you! We had 4 out of 4 with reflux and a dairy intolerance and it is no fun! With my first one, the doc just called it colic and he sufferef miserably for 9+ months, screaming inconsolably, fighting every feeding, driving us nearly insane. I only went for a second child because I thought, 'there's no way I'd get two babies like that"! I was wrong! My Luke came out the same way and I said, we are going to fix this! The medicine doesn't make them 100% better, but MUCH, MUCH better! We did a combo of Prevacid and Gentlease (i think that's what it was called) formula. Anyway, mothering is tough, and I commend you for taking your focus BACK to the positive! It's the best way to turn things around! Good luck, babe!!!
What a good mama. You have got your hands full, but it sounds like you do a good job as always. You asked why I thought my baby was stubborn? It rarely puts itself in the right position for the nurses and likes to take its toll on its mama's body... things to look forward to :) I hope you're well and that someone's taking care of YOU.
I just found your blog through Eryka's. You have adorable children!
The little girl I watch has reflux. Her parents fork out a lot of money for formula (the brand is Neocate). I hope the meds work and things perk up for soon.
